I stayed here from January to June of 2016. It was a wonderful experience.
The whole family was very kind and gracious. On some weekends, they would take the guests and children out together, to, for example, a local onsen or to a cherry-blossom viewing. The actual living space could not have been better. Guests were given a separate floor with single bedrooms and shared bathrooms, a kitchen, and a common space. The whole setup was much more comfortable than I expected. On an unrelated note, dinner was always delicious.
The location is not the center of Tokyo, but it's definitely convenient to travel anywhere in the larger metropolitan area, including Kawasaki, Tokyo, and Yokohama. The entire neighborhood is a real gem; supermarkets, bookstores, convenience stores, a train station, chain restaurants, local restaurants, izakayas, not to mention the all-import Don Quixote, which you no doubt will be heavily relying on.
It's hard for me to put into words my experience here. This place has become a kind of second home for me, even though I'm no longer in Japan and probably can't visit very often. For those interested in seeing how people in Japan live their lives everyday, if not just to meet an awesome family (and awesome guests) while traveling, I cannot recommend Saito-san's home highly enough.
Did I mention the home cooking is delicious?
